Custom made t-shirts aren't as hard to come by as you might think.
It's called hot market printing. It's when people print up t-shirts specifically for a big game and nobody prints up more t-shirts like that than Champion Awards and Apparel.
They have been printing custom t-shirts since 1970. What started out in a barn in Germantown, making trophies for Germantown horse shows, is now the largest awards and apparel company of its kind in the entire southeast. Their wall of fame is a who's who of championship teams from all across the sports world.
"We are basically a resource for large companies like Addis and VF Imagewear, Nike, to be available at a moments notice for to print for them," said Colby Bowen. "We come in have a crew on call 24-7 and they will come in say at halftime of a game and be ready to print at a moments notice. We can knock out 20,000-30,000 shirts in a night run on all five presses and get done what needs to be done."
So what if you have a little slogan like "Earle says beat San Antone, and make 'em groan,' they can pull that one off.
"We will do one shirt if that's what somebody wants," Bowen said. "There is no order is too small, that's our motto and we will do any print the customer wants."
Just like everything else this business is going online. Soon you will be able to go to their new website and place an order.
"We're currently in the process of developing a new website, hopefully to launch in January 2014, where a customer can go on and basically a complete process where they can design, illustrate, and customize their shirt," Bowen said. "Then they send the specs to us and we print it. It's out the door in 5-10 days."
It can be done even faster. Champion Awards received an order Monday for a Memphis In May barbeque team for shirts to be delivered by Thursday by the start of the competition.
Champion awards got it done.
