Canadian astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield made a name for himself during his five months aboard the International Space Station.
In addition to his duties as the station's commander, he hosted science experiments for schoolkids, recorded the first music video in space, and captivated the Twitterverse with photo after photo of our home planet, taken from orbit.
The pictures ranged from the beautiful, like shots of sunsets and auroras, to scientifically fascinating, like views of ice floes and cloud formations.
Now that Col. Hadfield and his Expedition 35 crewmates have safely returned to Earth, here's a look back at some of his best photos.
