The Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce is asking for donations to help secure a $15 million grant that would connect pedestrians and cyclists between Memphis and Arkansas on the Harahan Bridge.
The Chamber says the effort needs an additional $250,000 of private donations by May 15th to secure the Federal money that would fund the project.
The Harahan Bridge grant, awarded last year, is part of an effort to make pedestrian and bicycle traffic in Memphis more accessible. The Chamber says this project dovetails nicely with other plans like the expansion of the Green Line, and the addition of bicycle lanes throughout the city.
