Students Arrested After West Chester House Party, Riot

Posted: Updated:

It could have been a scene right out of the movie "The Hangover".   Broken beer bottles, empty red cups and bags of trash is all that's left after a massive weekend party on the 400 block of South Walnut Street in West Chester.

3 people have been arrested and West Chester Police say more arrests could be on the way. They also want to know more about a video production company that may have helped plan the event.

Zachary Geanotes, 19, of Villanova was arrested for Riot, Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct, Underage Drinking and Furnishing Alcohol to Minors.

Andrew Derr, 19 of Willow Grove, Pa was arrested for Failure of Disorderly Persons to Disburse, Forgery, Underage Drinking and Carrying a False ID.

Jeffery Kiely, 20, of Downingtown was arrested for Riot, Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct after police say was he among those who flipped over a car that was captured on smartphone. He was released on $25,000 bond.

"There was no control of that party whatsoever" said one unidentified West Chester University student who avoided the Saturday afternoon throw down because of reports of who was behind planning the party.

Sources tell Fox 29 a website called had been on campus all week filming an upcoming episode. The production company features videos of wild college parties shot and edited from campuses across the country. Temple University and Penn State have been featured in previous videos.

A Lower Merion man is reportedly the founder of the website. Police are looking into whether the website may have promoted the party. The website's Twitter account posted several Tweets featuring several accounts and pictures from the party.

"I'm aware of I'm Shmucked and the social media and how the context to which the party was set up but right now we are focused on the hosts" said West Chester Police Chief Scott Bohn.

Three West Chester University students who we are not identifying sat down with Fox 29 to tell us they tried to discourage friends from going to the party knowing there may be trouble.

"When you have a person coming in and saying he's a legitimate film crew and we want to film you guys partying, they (partygoers) will be doing a lot more outrageous stuff than they normally would" said another student.

One of the students was inside his car in the middle of the chaos while a group of men started pounding on his car hood. Smartphone video shows another man kicking in his windshield.

"Two kids came over and pounded on my car and then the "I'm Shmacked" crew came over and before I knew it there were hundreds of kids surrounding the car" the driver said.

Police can't say how much involvement there was by the website. But according to more than a dozens students we spoke with, the lure of cameras is why many had planned to go to the event.

"There was a reason why they were there. There's a reason why there was 700 kids there. There was a reason why the kids acted the way they did" said the West Chester student.

Fox 29 tried several times to contact website administrators for We only received on email reply asking us what questions we will be asking during an interview.
