'The Great Gatsby' premieres in New York

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

From writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby." The stars hit the black carpet for the world premiere at Lincoln Center.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Jay Gatsby. The book and movie are set in New York in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, and sky-rocketing stocks. Would-be writer Nick Caraway moves in next door to this party-giving millionaire and is captivated by his lifestyle

Nick's cousin Daisy falls for the great Gatsby meanwhile her blue-blooded husband Tom Buchanan is a philanderer himself.

"The Great Gatsby" hits theaters May 10.
