Royal Oak gym goes to the dogs

Posted: Updated:
ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WJBK) -

A Royal Oak gym went to the dogs on Saturday! Pulse Fitness held an open-house and fundraiser on North Main Street to raise money for Homes FurEver. The no-kill shelter rescues dogs, many from the streets of Detroit.

People were allowed to bring their pets and there were rescue dogs on hand during the event. A $5 donation was requested for the shelter and participants were invited to try out the various classes the gym has to offer.

Pulse Fitness owner Scott Genord says he got his dog at Homes FurEver.

"I got more and more involved in it, started fostering, and before I knew it I was very involved in getting people dogs and finding homes for dogs, too," he said.

Home FurEver takes in all dog breeds. The group was officially started in 2003 and has rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed almost 4,500 dogs and puppies.
