Wooddale Graduates to
Participate in White House Science Fair
On Monday, April 22, Wooddale
High School graduates Darius Hooker and Wesley Carter will take part in the
third annual White House Science Fair in Washington, D.C. Carter and Hooker,
graduates of Wooddale's aerospace and aviation program, will display rockets
designed and built by them. The White House Science Fair will celebrate the
student winners from a broad range of science, technology, engineering and math
(STEM) competitions from across the country.

Overton High School
Presents ‘The Jazz Exchange'
Overton High School will
present "The Jazz Exchange" concert on Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m. The concert
will feature performances from Overton High School's Blue Jazz Ensemble, 52
Street Jazz Combo and the Jazz Divas. The concert will also feature special
guest performances from legendary jazz musician Ronald Carter, jazz drummer
Bryan Carter and Southwest High School (Minneapolis, MN).

Elementary to Host Annual Golf Tournament
Saturday, April 27 at 8:30 a.m., Richland Elementary School will host
its annual REEF (Richland Elementary Educational Fund) Golf Tournament at the
Cordova Country Club, 7400 Cordova Club Dr. REEF is a nonprofit organization
designed to provide additional funds to Richland Elementary School to better
equip teachers and students to achieve their personal best. This golf
tournament will feature various competitions, door prizes and gift certificates
donated by tournament sponsors.

Knight Road Elementary
Teacher Named Finalist for Fishman Prize
Josalyn Tresvant-McGhee, K-5special education instructor, has been named as a finalist for the 2013 TNTP Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice. The Fishman Prize is awarded annually to exceptionally effective teachers working in high-poverty public schools. As a finalist, Tresvant-McGhee will be interviewed by TNTP staff and participate in classroom observations. Winners of the 2013 Fishman Prize will be announced in May.
