PHOENIX -

Two men are accused of committing two armed robberies early Thursday morning.

Police say D'shaad Johnson and Jermaine Taylor were armed with guns when they approached an off-duty employee at the Sonic near Indian School Road and 99th Avenue.

The men allegedly climbed into her car, demanded her keys and wallet and told her to open the door at the restaurant.

The woman told them she didn't have the keys to open the store, so the suspects took her keys and cellphone and left.

According to police, Taylor and Johnson then went to an International House of Pancakes near Central Avenue and Thomas Road where they attempted to commit a second armed robbery.

The suspects allegedly walked into the restaurant carrying guns and asked where the manager was.

The manager ran out the back of the restaurant while one of the men chased him.

Police say the men then got into a Ford Explorer and eventually crashed into a power utility pole near 23rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road while being pursued by officers.

The men both allegedly tried to run away, but officers caught up to them and took them into custody.

Taylor and Johnson were arrested and face charges of attempted armed robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage and unlawful flight from law enforcement.
