Video: Power line explosion near Milford's Red Dog Saloon

MILFORD, Mich. (WJBK) -

The storms that rolled through metro Detroit on Thursday caused thousands of people to lose power.

The very act of losing power was caught on video tape by the people who manage the Red Dog Saloon in Milford.

The staff at the popular bar and restaurant invested in a generator for occasions just like this, but the danger  of the downed power lines forced police to close down Main Street and therefore, no one is able to get to the bar.

With the weekend looming you can bet Perry Sincola and his team at the Red Dog Saloon are anxious to be open for business.

Customers can use our mobile website at dteenergy.com, or their iPhone or Android phone to report a power problem using the DTE Energy Outage Center app. The app is available free of charge from the Apple Store or Google Play.

Customers can report an outage, check on the status of an outage and view our outage map from their smart phones. Customers can also call DTE Energy at (800) 477-4747 to report power outages or downed power lines.
