Transfer of command Friday at Fort Huachuca


SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - The Army holds a ceremony Friday at Fort Huachuca for Maj. Gen. Robert P. Ashley to formally take command of the base in Sierra Vista.

Ashley previously served as the deputy chief of staff for intelligence of coalition forces in Afghanistan.

Ashley is replacing Maj. Gen. Greg Potter as head of both Fort Huachuca and the Intelligence Center of Excellence.

Potter has already left for an assignment in Afghanistan.

Friday's ceremony takes place at 9 a.m. at Brown Parade Field.
