Local college students rallied against gun violence on the sixth anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting rampage on Tuesday.
Mayors Against Illegal Guns joined the students from Morehouse and Spelman Colleges.
A college student shot to death 32 victims then took his own life at Virginia Tech.
The groups used the anniversary to stress gun violence prevention.
They've called on Sen. Saxby Chambliss to support bi-partisan legislation that will expand background checks.
Organizers encouraged students to call legislators and try to make a difference. They want to fix weaknesses and loopholes in the law that makes it too easy for criminals to get guns.
Meanwhile the NRA says an extended background check system leads to a national gun registry that it rejects as unconstitutional.
