ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta Track Club, host of the annual AJC Peachtree Road Race, says safety is a top priority and the group works closely with local authorities on safety procedures.
The group's Executive Director Tracey Russell also said in a statement Tuesday the group's "hearts are broken by the horrific events in Boston yesterday that have impacted our country and the entire running community."
The Atlanta Track Club, founded in 1964, is considered 1 of the largest running organizations in the U.S. The group puts on more than 25 events a year, including the AJC Peachtree Road Race set for July 4.
In Boston, two bombs were set off Monday afternoon at the finish line of the city's marathon, killing three and wounding more than 170 people.
