ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - People will have an opportunity to drop off hard-to-recycle objects as part of the University of Georgia's Earth Week celebration.
The event, called a Recycling Happy Hour, is set for April 23 at the UGA intramural field parking lot. Students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to stop by to drop off things like batteries, fluorescent bulbs, cooking grease, televisions, computers, phones and cables.
UGA says that 1,678 pounds of electronics were recycled last year. Some useful computer-related items were refurbished and donated to members of the Athens community.
The event is sponsored by the UGA's office of sustainability, WUGA radio and the Athens-Clarke County Recycling Division, along with UGA parking services and Coca-Cola.
