Cutting down on response time and doing it without a cost to the taxpayers.
The new Desoto County Sheriff's Department
sub-station is in full operation in Olive Branch. It's located in the back of the Suzuki dealership
on the service road in Olive Branch, a space that was donated by Homer Skelton
Ford and an Olive Branch businessman.
The dealership is picking up the cost
of the light and water bill and the rent is free.
Rasco says, "it's one
of the things that we feel like we have to do to make sure that the people we
serve here have access instead of having to drive all the way to Hernando. Plus,
the wear and tear on our vehicles, the tires, the guys travel from olive branch
to Hernando, to come in to start work, now they just come here and check in and
get their information and go to work."
Sheriff Rasco says he would like to ultimately have substations in the west and northern and southern parts of Desoto County.
