Memphis Police Department has confirmed an individual was stabbed/cut by a suspect on Beale Street.
According to dispatch, officers have one individual detained at this time.
The victim was transported in non-critical condition.
Officers made the scene of a stabbing and victim Houston Baggett stated he approached suspect Kenneth Welch regarding the suspect wearing his clothes when suspect Kenneth Welch pulled out a knife and stabbed victim Houston Baggett.
Officers made the scene and suspect Kenneth Welch was fleeing from the scene and he was later apprehended. Suspect Kenneth Welch stated that victim Houston Baggett had slapped him over the victim wearing the suspect's clothes and that's when the suspect stabbed the victim.
Suspect Kenneth Welch uttered he stabbed the victim with a piece of glass and he threw it some where in Church Park at Beale at Fourth. Officers checked the park and could not locate a weapon.
Officers took photos with PDA of victim Houston Baggett's injury to his chest, of his torn shirt, and the blood on the victim's chest, shoes and ground.
Both the victim and suspect had been drinking alcoholic beverages and officer smelled an odor of intoxicant on their person.
Victim Houston Baggett was taken to Methodist University for a non-critical wound.
