PHILADELPHIA -

Hearings begin Tuesday morning in Philadelphia on the concussion risks for National Football League players.

More than 4,100 former players or their relatives are suing the league for hiding the link between football and brain damage.

But Tuesday's hearing focuses on whether the case should go to trial.

The NFL wants to handle the issue in arbitration, instead.

A ruling is no expected immediately. And, regardless, there will most likely be appeals.

Among those who will be in court is former Eagles fullback Kevin Turner, who is all of the way back from Alabama. He's only 43-year-old but has the deadly disease A.L.S., which he argues is due to head injuries he suffered.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley had a preview of the hearing during this video report from Tuesday morning.
