MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Nicholas Augustus, wanted for first degree murder in a 2012 shooting at the Pendleton Place Apartments, was taken into custody by the Shelby County Fugitive Apprehension Team after a brief foot chase Monday.

The team caught up with Augustus in the 5300 block of Derron Street as he was working on a car. Once spotting the deputies the fugitive took off on foot, only to be apprehended soon after by a K9 and its handler, the sheriff's office said.

In addition to a first degree murder charge, Augustus was also wanted on additional charges of employing a firearm with intent to commit felony, vandalism $10,000, petition to revoke suspended sentence, and setting fire to personal property.

Deputies have also charged Augustus with the charge of fleeing from law enforcement.

An arraignment is pending.
