Crews clean up after oil pipe ruptures in Arkansas
MAYFLOWER, Ark. (AP) -
Officials say crews have recovered about 4,500
barrels of oil and water after a crude oil pipeline ruptured in central
Authorities say an ExxonMobil pipeline sprung a
leak Friday afternoon in Mayflower, a small city about 20 miles
northwest of Little Rock.
A Saturday news release from ExxonMobil and local
officials says officials have observed a few thousand barrels of oil in
the area, but are preparing a response for more than 10,000 barrels "to
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the spill, which led to a number of evacuations in a residential area.
Officials on Friday said dozens of homes were being
evacuated, but the Saturday news release said the city recommended that
22 homes be evacuated.
