The City of Hernando, Mississippi and the Lion's Club of Hernando are asking for your help. They are looking for lightly used or new sports equipment you no longer need. The equipment will go to Hernando Kids who could benefit from them. With sports equipment as expensive as it is, the city is trying to make sure that all children who want to play sports can afford to play.
The idea for the donation drive was that of Lion's Club member Leslie Bierman. Bierman came up with the idea while putting together a yard sale. She decided instead of selling the cleats for a few dollars, she would get her church members to donate lightly used gear for teams in Hernando to use.
The city is looking for used or new gear for baseball, basketball, football and soccer and tennis. The equipment can be dropped off at the Gale Center on Elm Street in Hernando or at the DeSoto Times Tribune on Highway 51 South in Hernando.
