CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A Rockford man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in January at her South Loop home.

Deontae M. Latham, 19, is charged with the Jan. 9 attack in the 1400 block of South Clark Street, according to police News Affairs.

The 56-year-old woman was sitting in her vehicle when Latham allegedly brandished a handgun and told her to open the door, according to an alert issued by police. He then sexually assaulted her and used her keys to go inside her home, where he demanded money at gunpoint from the 54-year-old man inside, the alert said.

Latham, of the 900 block of 5th Avenue in Rockford, faces one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon, one count of armed home invasion and two counts of armed robbery, police said.

Latham is expected to appear in bond court Tuesday.
