It looked like it did when the Tigers came home as Conference-USA champs: More than 100 fans gathered at Wilson Air donning their Memphis Tiger gear and proudly cheering support for their hometown team.
You wouldn't have known the Tigers were returning home after an NCAA loss.
After losing to Michigan State with a 22-point gap, Coach Josh Pastner says the team was obviously bummed. But that didn't stop the team and Pastner himself from stopping by each of the fans at the airport to sign autographs and take pictures.
"We got the best fans in the country; we got the absolute best fans in the country," says Pastner, "I really wanted to win this for the fans, but we're going to be back next year and we got a change to be really, really good next year."
Fans are also excited about next year. One fan told FOX 13, "I'm looking forward to next year. We got the number two recruiting class in the country and we got all this experience, so I tell you, we got a lot to look forward too."
Pastner says after a couple of weeks off, the team is going to get right back to work preparing for next season in the new league.
"Let me tell you this: The team like we played, Michigan State: We'll see those teams in our league next year in the new league and that will help us in the NCAA tournament, there's no doubt about it," says Pastner.
