A 49-year-old woman suffered a broken leg and a ruptured spleen when police say she was struck by a hit-and-run driver late Saturday night along Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia.
According to police, the woman was struck shortly after 11 p.m. at the Roosevelt and Garland Street intersection.
A witness says the woman was standing near a bus stop when a car headed southbound apparently lost control and struck the woman, catapulting her into the air. Police say the woman landed about 15 feet away.
The vehicle then struck a hotel fence, knocking a portion of it down, police said.
While initially the vehicle stopped, police say it took off and left the scene.
Police say a witness was able to describe the vehicle as a 2009 Chevrolet Venture.
