TEMPE, Ariz. -
Governor Jan Brewer announced Thursday a bank based in San Francisco is expanding to Arizona, bringing hundreds of new jobs to our state.
Union Bank is going to locate a mortgage operations center in Tempe. The governor says it will bring 250 jobs to the valley over the next three years, along with a $5-million capital investment.
"Greater Phoenix area has become a real hotbed of banking talent so we're very excited to be here and participate in that market, also the educational system here," said Jim Francis, executive vice president of Union Bank.
"I joined Union Bank almost 27 years ago through a college training program and we're looking to do similar types of things here. Bring on students and bring them into our company and hopefully have them as long-term employees."
Union Bank will move into a 50-thousand square foot complex near Priest and Washington. It plans to be in operation sometime this spring.
