Kroger's new bigger grocery store at Highland and Poplar in East Memphis is finally open next to its old location that slated to be torn down.
The new and improved Kroger is something the university district residents have been waiting for.
Shoppers to the new store will find a big change from the old store. There's a sushi bar, a fancy cheese section, a large organic and natural food section. You can even make your own peanut butter and jar local honey.
There are gluten free and international food sections. This Kroger also has an expanded baby aisle and pet aisle. The new grocery store responding to the requests and buying habits of the customers.
Kroger has now invested more than $50 million in Memphis the last few years and plans to invest an additional $50 million in the next three to five years. The next store to get a makeover will be the Midtown store on Union.
Though the new Kroger on Poplar and Highland is open, the official grand opening of the store won't take place for a few weeks until the old store is torn down to make way for additional parking.
