Residents concerned about DeKalb County's troubled school district packed a Decatur church on Tuesday.
The Georgia NAACP and other community leaders held the town hall meeting at the Thankful Baptist Church.
They talked about Gov. Nathan Deal's replacement of six of the nine school board members. Many of the people attending said his actions are unconstitutional.
"We believe that it's embedded in the Voting Rights Act that people's right to vote, their right to choose should not be tampered with," said DeKalb County NAACP President Edward DuBose.
Deal made the move on the recommendation of the state Board of Education after accrediting agency SACS placed the school district on probation.
