There was a sigh of relief heard across Memphis as the Tigers won in a double overtime against Southern Mississippi. As soon as everyone's heart rates leveled back out and released their white knuckle grips from the couches, they headed over to the airport, to give their team a true-Tiger welcome home.
Among the fans, three-month-old Ella Jo Snipes, who did something very particular during the game.
"Every time she say Southern Miss on the TV she started crying," says her mother Robin Snipes.
A lot of fans were crying during the game, but because it was so close.
"Chris Crawford shot so many threes until I passed out," says fan Vivian Chalmers.
As the team stepped off the plane on Saturday, they were all smiles, holding their trophy high and taking time to greet the more than 100 Tiger fans.
"We got the best fans. It was a home game for us a lot of the games in Tulsa because of the fans, and the fans being here is just special," says Memphis Tigers Men's Basketball Coach Josh Pastner.
The fans say they plan to keep that Tiger blue spirit throughout the playoffs as the team claims a win one at a time.
"We hungry I know that. Everybody underestimates us because of our conference, but they better watch out," says fan Ron Finch.
