Kam talks with Dr. Amy Johnson on luck. What separates lucky people from unlucky people? Dr. Johnson breaks down the scientific research behind luck into five easy to understand points.
According to Dr. Johnson, luck is not a magical, mystical thing. There is a distinct difference between lucky people and unlucky people, based on how they behave, relate and react to everyday situations.
From Dr. Johnson: 1. Lucky people are open to trying new things. Lucky people say yes to new opportunities. They are less stuck in daily habits and are willing to venture into the unknown. 2. Lucky people are willing to fail. Lucky people take chances. What an unlucky person would call "failure", a lucky person calls "feedback". 3. Lucky people notice things that unlucky people don't. There is a hilarious study that shows that people who consider themselves lucky notice things planted in their path (money on the ground, opportunities for rewards) that unlucky people literally step on without noticing. 4. Lucky people follow their gut. Lucky people use their intuition, follow hunches, and are aware of their feelings much more than unlucky people. Unlucky people are in their head more, using logic and reasoning and following rules, whereas lucky people are more in the moment. 5. Lucky people find luck in unlikely places. Lucky people look for the luck in virtually any situation.
