DETROIT (WJBK) -

Sources said two City of Detroit trash collectors found a woman's body in an overgrown field on East Louisiana just past 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The neighborhood on the city's northeast side is basically abandoned.  The body was almost hidden by furniture.

911 was called.  Police promptly responded to investigate.  Detectives can only say that she is a Jane Doe, a black female in her twenties or thirties.

Police told us she has likely been dead for quite some time.  They are not sure how she died or ended up in that field.

The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.  That will determine how police proceed with their investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit Police.
