The 34-year-old woman married to the Ridgeway High School basketball player with a false transcript is speaking out. She says she did not forge his transcript and shared parts of an audio recording with Fox13 to help prove he had someone else do the dirty work.
During the audio recording, you can hear two voices:
Voice 1: "Where did this transcript come from?"
Voice 2: "Somebody made it for me."
Voice 1: "Oh my God, Why did you do that?
Voice 2: "I wasn't thinking."
The woman, who asked to be called Chaundrea Nicolle, says she taped the conversation to help clear her name in the Ridgeway basketball scandal. She says the recording is between her and her 18-year-old husband McKinzey Sewell.
Voice 1: "I know nothing about none of this, I just want to make sure everything's going to be OK, and my kids going to be OK."
Voice 2: "Everything's going to be OK."
McKinzey's fake transcript cost his basketball team a shot at the state championship.
McKinzey's aunt accused Nicolle of the forgery, but Nicolle says his family is using the controversy for the spotlight.
"This same lady who is calling the news station and trying to do all these interviews is the same one who put him out to where he had to come with me in the first place, so I feel like he's being used so she can have her 15 minutes," says Nicolle.
While Nicolle says she did collect the necessary documents for school entry, she says he's responsible for the fake transcript.
"He made that dumb decision to do what he did."
The couple say they married in November. Nicolle says some may judge their age difference, but she says they were two people who fell in love.
"McKinzey is extremely smart, think he tried to become all things I wanted, once I fell for him, through time, McKinzey's true self came out…lies," she says.
According to McKinzey, "The only way she would let me back there if I signed the wedding papers, I really wanted to be there felt like I had a second chance at doing something I love to do so I did it."
But, Nicolle says that's false, "Who would say, ‘if you marry me you can go to school?' That makes no sense."
While she says she still loves McKinzey, she says his cheating led to relationship problems before the Ridgeway scandal. During the audio recording, it appears the 18 year old may finally realize his actions aren't invincible.
Voice 1: "Do you know how much trouble you can get yourself into?"
Voice 2: "No I didn't."
Nicolle says she took pictures and video for MCS for free. After the allegations surfaced, she says she contacted her daughter's father, music manager Rich Dollarz, who's on VH1's Love and Hip Hop, to help her deal with the media.
She plans to get her marriage annulled and relocate.
Fox13 called McKinzey's aunt, McKini Spain, for her response to the audio recording. Spain says that McKinzey was set up.
