Montgomery County, Pa. -

The woman struck and killed Monday while jogging in Limerick was identified by investigators as 40-year-old Merinda Thompson, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

Thompson died just before 3 p.m. while she was jogging on N. Lewis Road in the Royersford section of Limerick Township when a car crossed into the southbound lane and struck her, police said.

Members of the police department and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office are now conducting a joint investigation into her death.

Police say the 18-year-old driver was taken to Paoli Hospital for what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

According to investigators, a blood sample from the driver was obtained for testing. Investigators have also taken the man's cell phone.

An autopsy on Thompson's body was scheduled for Tuesday.

Thursday weather looks damp and stormy.  It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms.  Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.

This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
