Breakfast might be the most important meal of the day, but it also landed a Maryland second grader in hot water. The 7-year-old was suspended from school for two days after he reportedly munching a Pop Tart into the shape of a gun.
Josh Welch served a two-day suspension from Park Elementary School in Brooklyn Park, Md. after school officials said the boy bit his Pop Tart to look like a gun, held it up, and said, "Bang, bang!" But Josh told FOX Baltimore he did no such thing.
"I did not do that," he said. "I did not go, 'Bang, bang!' Cause if it's in school, I do not go, 'Bang, bang, bang, bang!'"
Josh told WBFF he was trying to bite it into the shape of a mountain, but not a gun.
Josh's dad, B.J. told WBFF it's not something he thinks his son should have been suspended for in the first place. But, he says administrators told him he was not suspended because of the Pop Tart, but instead because of his disruptive behavior in his classroom. Josh suffers from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
WBFF reports the elementary school sent home a letter explaining what happened to parents of other students.
