Rep. Todd lived with a lobbyist according to reports

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Collierville Legislator, Representative Curry Todd, is keeping quiet tonight about a story that broke in Nashville.

The Tennessean is reporting that Todd lived in the Nashville home of lobbyist Chuck Welch, who works for Farris, Mathews and Bobanga, a firm who often had business before the state legislature and even Todd's committees.

Todd did not return our requests for comment, but tells the Tennessean he did stay at the Nashville home in 2011, but didn't specify for how long, or how often.

Taking gifts from a lobbyist is a violation of the Tennessee Ethics Code.

Todd tells the Tennessean the free rent is not a violation because there is an exemption for gift when the lawmaker is personal friends with the lobbyist-

Todd says he's known the lobbyist since childhood.

The report says he lived in the home in 2011.

2011 was a pretty tough period in Todd's personal life.

In October 2011 Todd was arrested for drunk driving with a loaded weapon in the car.

Todd later plead guilty and served two days behind bars.

In addition, he was forced to resign as chairman of the powerful State Government Committee, and resign from the Special Firearms Task Force.

That same month Todd's divorce was finalized.

Their marital home is now listed solely in her name.

Todd's local address is now listed as an apartment in Collierville.
