SEPTA Announcing 'Find My Phone' Initiative

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

SEPTA will hand out flyers to subway riders Friday with information on keeping their smartphones secure.

As part of a new Transit Police initiative, the flyers will be given to riders on the Broad Street Line and Market-Frankford Line from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. They will have instructions for downloading free tracking applications for phones and tablets, so that if a smart device is stolen, SEPTA police will be able to help patrons locate their items.

Police have said that the theft of electronic devices is a national problem. SEPTA recommends not using the devices while waiting on station platforms and always being aware of your surroundings. Riders should immediately contact police if their device is lost or stolen.

Instructions for downloading the free app, "Find My Phone," can also be found on SEPTA's website.
