Do you go to the gym to work out, or to socialize? A new study finds one in three gym-goers admit they don't even break a sweat.
Only half complete a serious workout routine, while the rest spend their time chatting or checking out potential partners. About a third of the gym-goers say they're just there to get away from the house.
To make sure you maximize your time at the gym, take the talk test. If you can complete a sentence with taking a big breath, you need to crank up the effort.
Check your pulse periodically. Your target heart rate during exercise should be 60-85 percent of your max. Finally, set the timer on your phone for 15 minutes when you walk in the door.
If you haven't worked up a sweat by the time it goes off, you're probably not working hard enough.
