American plays of our time as Playhouse on the Square proudly presents both
parts of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning epic. Angels in
America: Millennium Approaches introduces gay couple Prior and Louis as they
cope with Prior's AIDS diagnosis; Mormon couple Joe and Harper who must
navigate mental instability and their struggling marriage; and the vicious,
closeted lawyer Roy Cohn, whose health is failing. They attempt to reconcile
morality and identity, love and justice, responsibility and freedom during the
Reagan era as the AIDS epidemic spreads. Their lives are forever changed in
Angels in America: Perestroika. "Extravagantly theatrical and deeply spiritual,
witty and compassionate, furious and incredibly smart." – Newsday
