A 16-year-old girl and a security guard are recovering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds they received during a double shooting inside a Hickory Hill Walmart Sunday evening.
Police say a large group of teens had been partying at Club Zodiac and walked over the Walmart. A fight ensued and several shots were fired inside the store.
A person who called police said they saw a group of teens looting and vandalizing the store just before the teenager and 21-year-old security guard were hit.
The shooting took place Sunday evening at around 9:40 p.m., Memphis police said.
The teen was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and treated for a leg wound. The security guard was taken to The MED for what police say is minor wounds.
Police initially located the injured teen and later found the security guard outside the Walmart on Appletree around the corner.
While checking the Enclave Apartments near Club Zodiac and the Walmart, officers observed a 16-year-old male running with a rifle. The juvenile was apprehended and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. A second 16-year-old was arrested near the Walmart and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Evading Arrest, and Resisting Arrest.
