NEW MILFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Light & Power is reporting a power outage affecting nearly 10,000 customers in western Connecticut.

Two substations in the area were knocked offline and utility workers are trying to figure out what went wrong.

Some locations affected include Kent, New Milford, Sherman, Warren and Washington.

CL&P officials tell the TV station that the utility is not releasing a time estimate for restoring power until the cause is determined.

A utility representative did not immediately return a call seeking more information.
