Thirteen children ranging in age of 1 to 4 and two adults escaped a fire Thursday morning inside a Frayser daycare, Memphis Fire officials said.
The fire was first reported just after 8 a.m. at Nana's Rocking Rhyme Learning Center, located at 2581 James Rd.
None of the children or adults were injured.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within 20 minutes.
Memphis Fire spokesman Lt. Wayne Cook said the daycare had working smoke detectors and fire alarms were in place alerting staff and children before they saw the flames.
Lt. Cook said after examining the commercial structure, Nana's Rocking and Rhymes Leaning Center did not have a sprinkler system.
The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be faulty electrical wiring in the attic, Lt. Cook said. It caused an estimated $35,000 in damages to the structure and an additional $15,000 to the contents inside.
