SUSSEX COUNT, Del. -

Delaware State Police say two men were taken into custody Thursday in connection after they allegedly stole copper wire from a Georgetown farm's irrigation system.

Police say their investigation started in January when troopers responded to a noise complaint over a chainsaw in a farm field on Deer Forrest Road.

Two empty pickup trucks were found when troopers arrived.

A police canine later picked up a scent from the pickup trucks to the home of one of the men believed to be involved.

Investigators say they learned the suspect and his nephew had allegedly cut several pieces of copper wire from an irrigation system before leaving the field when troopers arrived.

Delaware State Police say 36-year-old Minos Wilson and his nephew, 27-year-old Chad Wilson now face theft and other related charges.

Police say the two suspects were taken into custody when they arrived at a Delaware State Police building Thursday.

Thursday weather looks damp and stormy.  It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms.  Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.

This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
