The University of Memphis Athletics Department has launched a new major giving program. Designed by the Athletics Development staff, the True Blue Society will be one of the cornerstones for the athletic department's growth in fundraising to help position the Tigers compete at the highest level nationally.
Over the last four months, the True Blue Society has been introduced in a "silent leadership phase" to various constituents that has helped secure several gifts totaling over $4.5 million in new money towards the future success of the program.
Said Tom Bowen, Director of Athletics at the University of Memphis, "We wanted to design and incorporate a program here at Memphis that allows more people to get involved philanthropically. A program that allows people to play their part in an intimate way like never before, while also helping us get to where we all want to go."
How can Tiger Nation join the U of M on its quest for athletic superiority?
As the Tigers step up their game and move to the BIG EAST Conference, fans are asked to consider raising their level of commitment and become members of the True Blue Society.
"With the enormous amount of generosity from Tiger Nation, our ambitious goals for this athletic department will be obtainable," said Bowen. "The opportunity that awaits our student-athletes is a challenging one, and together, we must provide those who compete for the University of Memphis the best opportunity to succeed."
True Blue Society membership starts at a minimum $25,000 gift to the sport of each donor's choice payable over five years. Membership includes gifts above and beyond the donation required for seats and parking. With each increment level within the True Blue Society, donors will receive various recognition and benefit options.
"The True Blue Society was carefully constructed with best practices in mind and is similar to other top philanthropic programs in the Pac-12 and the SEC," said Tyler Mariucci, Assistant Athletics Director for Development. "It allows our fans to have a larger impact, while becoming more engaged with our athletic programs."
All told, the University of Memphis Athletics Department has raised more than $4.5 million in new monies over the past four months including the largest gift ever to women's athletics, $2.6 million from the Hardin Trust Foundation.
