The Shelby County Commission's Education Committee reached a compromise over teacher residency requirements for the new Unified school district.
The committee agreed to a plan on Wednesday that allows Memphis City School teachers who live outside the county, five years to move in the county limits.

Employees with MCS are allowed to live outside the city, but once the county and city school systems merge, those workers will have to follow county rules.
