MACOMB, Mich. (WJBK) -
A wounded warrior got the keys to a brand new home in Macomb on Friday.
Sergeant Davin Dumar joined the Army in 2005 and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2011. The Mt. Clemens native lost his right leg and suffered injuries to both of his hands when he was hit by an IED.
Now thanks to Pulte Homes, he and his wife have a beautiful place to call home as they move back to metro Detroit from the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
"This is definitely an upgrade, closer to family. My dad's five minutes away. Her parents are two minutes away. So it's nice," said Dumar. "It is so overwhelming. I can't believe I'm a homeowner."
The Dumars don't have any children yet, but say they are looking forward to turning at least one room of their new home into a nursery.
Pulte's donation is part of the Bay Area Builders Association's "Operation Finally Home"program.
