The District Attorney General's Office issued the following statement on the TBI investigation of Terrence Shaw for the fatal shooting of Justin Thompson:
"On September 24, 2012, 15-year-old Justin Thompson was shot and killed by off-duty Memphis police officer Terrance Shaw.
At my request, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation and submitted their findings and reports to me.
I have reviewed the file and will not present this matter to the Grand Jury at this time. There is insufficient evidence to create a reasonable chance for a conviction against Mr. Shaw, particularly when considered with the foreseeable defense that could be raised under the evidence."
