Bartlett High's Work Based Learning Students Get Ready for Work

Students from the functional skills class at Bartlett High have been getting real world work experience by participating in the Work Based Learning program coordinated by teacher, Arwen Adair. Throughout the fall they worked every day with employees at Easy Way Produce on Stage Road stocking, tidying the store and bagging groceries. At Bartlett United Methodist Church these students worked with the housekeeping team to keep the church sparkling. Work Based Learning is an experience that allows students to go beyond the classroom and into the community to develop workplace competencies. Students are able to consider different careers, develop specific skills within an industry, and learn workplace behavior. Through WBL, students learn how to apply what they are learning in the classroom as they prepare to transition into the world of career opportunities. If you get a chance, come visit the students at their spring assignments: Walgreens (Kirby Whitten & Stage), McDonald's (Stage Rd.) and Singleton Community Center!
