People in the north valley paid tribute to the Sandy Hook victims with a 5K run Saturday afternoon.
Around the country, many communities took part in their own 5K to help raise money for the Sandy Hook victims.
Valley supporters showed up to Max Muscle in Cave Creek near 27th Avenue and Carefree Highway.
The tribute started with a candle light vigil while playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," performed by surviving students.
Many people have been affected in different ways by the school shooting.
"I can't even imagine what those families went through. We were approaching the holidays, such a fun happy time for families, and all through the holidays I just kept thinking what it must have been like for them," said Denise Thompson, 5K event organizer.
