NASHVILLE, Tenn. (FOX13) -

It was an exciting evening Saturday in Nashville for FOX13 News WHBQ family.

We were awarded three Emmys at the 27th Annual Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards Program, awarded by the Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The FOX13 News family had eight nominations up for awards at the 27th Midsouth Emmy Awards, held at the Nashville Symphony Hall.

The first Emmy for the FOX13 News family was awarded to our promotions staff (Paul Sloan & Waheed AlQawasmi) for directing a Short Form Campaign for Good Morning Memphis. Remember the fun we had over the spring of 2012 with our friends at TMZ?

The second Emmy award of the night was presented to reporter Bofta Yimam for her Extended Piece on Kimberlee's Law, which followed Kimberlee Morton's journey to get the state to pass a law that closed a loophole allowing violent rapists to earn good behavior credits and early release.

The third Emmy award went to Good Morning Memphis anchor Valerie Calhoun for her Specialty News Assignment Report on making money at storage auctions.

Bofta represented the FOX13 News family at the 27th Annual Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards. She was also asked to present during Saturday night's awards program.
