CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) - The Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries has named the Tellus Science Museum as its institution of the year.
Tellus officials were honored during the association's annual conference at the Georgia Museum of Art in Athens Friday.
Aside from the institution of the year honor, Tellus astronomer David Dundee was honored with a lifetime achievement award for his nearly three decades of work at Tellus, the American Museum of Natural History and the Fernbank Science Center.
The Tellus Science Museum operates four galleries, a 120-seat digital planetarium and observatory in Cartersville, about 25 miles east of Rome.
