Gov. Christie & NFL Announce Events For 2014 Super Bowl

Posted: Updated:

The Super Bowl will make it's northern debut in 2014 at MetLife Stadium on February 2, 2014.

Governor Chris Christie and the National Football League recently announced a series of events that will take place throughout New Jersey leading up to the big game.

Our region's first Super Bowl is a little more than one year away, and in New Jersey, the countdown has officially begun," said Governor Christie. "Hosting the big game on February 2 and its many celebratory lead-up events during Super Bowl Week is a major win for the state, its tourism and economic developments."

Media Day will take place at Newark's Prudential Center on January 28.  This will be the first time this event will be held outside of the game venue.

The NFC team will be practicing at the Timex Center and the AFC team will be practicing at the Atlantic Health Facility.

The NFL Tailgate Party will take place at the Grandstand at the Meadowlands Racetrack, on Sunday, February 2.

The Super Bowl Host Committee's pre-game party will also be held in New Jersey, as well as all post game partied for both teams.

You can catch all the action right here on Fox 29 next year!  Hopefully our Eagles will make the short trip up the turnpike for the big dance.

It was a soupy start today. We can expect many clouds, some sun, lots of humidity, and a chance of pop up showers any time. At least it'll be warmer: High around 80-degrees today.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. Warm temps stick around, too. And we do mean stick...because it'll be humid, too.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
