A 19-year-old woman died after three vehicles crashed near the S.R. 89A and Robert Road on Tuesday afternoon.
A 46-year-old woman was driving a Dodge Neon with 19-year-old and 1 and 1/2 year old passengers. She, along with a Ford Focus, were sitting at a traffic light that had reportedly just turned green.
The two cars began to accelerate when, according to witnesses, a Jeep Liberty struck the Neon at highway speeds without braking.
The Neon spun several times and struck the Focus.
Officers say the at fault vehicle, the Jeep, was driven by 49-year-old Kris Raymond McClain.
19-year-old Hayley Stevens of Dewey was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Neon and the 1 and 1/2-year-old were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Focus was not reportedly injured.
McClain was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators say McClain admitted to using both marijuana and methadone for medical reasons in the past 24 hours before the crash.
McClain faces charges for second degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of endangerment and two DUI related charges.
