Suspended Maple Grove High School varsity hockey coach Gary Stefano, has been reinstated according to district community relations director Barb Olson.
The reinstatement comes after the district concluded their investigation into a complaint they received about the varsity hockey team.
The school district but wouldn't elaborate on the nature of the investigation, but said it's unrelated to the one that left 13 players suspended from the team earlier this week for violating Minnesota State High School League code of conduct rules.
The player absences were obvious Thursday night as the Maple Grove Crimson took on the Blaine Bengals. The school will only say the players violated rules in an incident that happened outside the school, in a private home, in mid-December. Player suspensions ranged from two to four games.
The school district said it consulted with Maple Grove police and believes no laws were broken. There is no criminal investigation.
No police report was filed, and there's no documentation of any kind, meaning there's no way to see if the allegations were sufficiently investigated. At least three of the players, including the team captains, are 18, so those names and the information would be public.
